SOTETSU HOTELS supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
About SDGs
It is an abbreviation for the "Sustainable Development Goals" adopted at the 2015 United Nations Summit.
These international goals consist of 17 goals that address social issues in all countries and 169 targets set for each goal.
By achieving these goals and targets, we aim to build a sustainable society by 2030. Efforts are being called for in all countries, developed and developing alike, and in Japan too, public institutions and companies are making progress in this regard.
Carbon Neutral Initiatives
We have introduced carbon-neutral city gas*, CO2-free electricity*, and a solar power generation system*, and are working to reduce CO2 emissions, which are a cause of global warming.
*We will gradually introduce this system, starting with some hotels that have already implemented it.
Initiatives to reduce plastic waste
Amenities such as Toothbrush, Razor, and Hair brush are provided in the common areas rather than in the Guest Rooms. We encourage guests to use only the amount they need during their stay, in an effort to reduce plastic waste.
Cleaning for consecutive stays
During your stay, cleaning will be provided upon request. We are reducing the frequency of linen and waste collections to reduce mass disposal, consumption, and carbon emissions.
Introduction of a water purification system for the entire building
Not only drinking water, but all water used in daily life, such as showering, bathing, brushing teeth, washing your face, etc., is purified water. By introducing a water purification system throughout the building, we will reduce the number of times we provide mineral water in plastic bottles, which will lead to a reduction in plastic waste.
Natural disaster prevention measures
We regularly conduct drills that incorporate scenarios for setting up emergency headquarters in preparation for a large-scale earthquake, striving to build a stable business structure in the event of a disaster.In addition, we regularly conduct self-defense fire drills at all facilities in preparation for emergencies such as fires and earthquakes, and we also take evacuation measures such as managing stockpiles of supplies.
Training and Development Initiatives
We provide in-house training on specific topics such as labor issues and harassment. We create opportunities for continuous employee growth by utilizing training programs that incorporate open recruitment when opening new stores, a system for challenging higher positions, and cross-training across departments. We also focus on supporting employees in obtaining qualifications, aiming to promote meaningful employment.
Regional revitalization initiatives
We are expanding our hotel network both domestically and internationally, improving convenience for both business and leisure travelers. When opening new hotels, we actively collaborate with local businesses, aiming to revitalize the local economy and community.
