Good morning everyone!
This is Sotetsu Fresa Inn Yokohama-Totsuka!

Today marks the start of November, with only one month left in the year.

It's the month when it starts to get really cold as we approach December.
I get cold easily, so I sleep under a super warm Blankets that I bought from a certain pricey store back in October, but when I woke up and got out from under the Blankets, I was surprised to find that the room was much colder than I had imagined.

We are currently experiencing extreme temperature changes, so please take care of your health.

Now that the month has changed, I would like to introduce some illustrations as per usual.

This month, for November, I tried drawing a cold wind.

Do you know the word "kogarashi"?

Kogarashi literally means a cold north wind that blows away dead leaves and other foliage.
The Japan Meteorological Agency's forecast terminology describes it as "a (somewhat) strong wind from the north that blows from late autumn to early winter."

When the cold wind blows, we think, "Ah, winter is here," and "This year is almost over."
That's how I feel.

The word "kogarashi" is written as "tree" and "wither" as in "withering" of plants, and is pronounced "kogarashi".
Did you know that you can actually write it with just one kanji character?

"wintry wind"

This is read as kogarashi.

The kanji is similar to the "tako" (kites) that are flown high into the sky during the New Year holidays.

This time, I deliberately left out the colors and finished the illustration in monochrome to emphasize the "windy weather" feeling.

The wind of the trees, which evokes the season, also seems to be a frequent theme for songs.

For example, Chopin's Etude, Op. 25-11 in A minor, "Winters."
I personally love Chopin, and this is one of my favorite piano etudes he composed.

It's a very difficult song to play, but once you can play it, it's a great song.

Another song that comes to mind is "Embraced by the Cold Wind," isn't it?

"Embraced by the Winter Wind" sung by Kyoko Koizumi, also known as Kyoko Kyon.
Did you know that this song was actually written and composed by a famous person?

In fact, this song was written and composed by Takamizawa of "THE ALFEE."
Apparently the original title was planned to be "Wind Boy," but the final title was decided to be "Embraced by the Cold Wind."

It's a song that's somehow passionate, yet somehow lonely.
Also, the use of bagpipes in the song is quite impressive.

Apparently, at the time, Koizumi wanted to create a song that had an Irish folk feel to it, which is why he decided to use bagpipes.

By the way, Takamitsu, who wrote the lyrics and composed the music, later did a self-cover of this song, changing the title slightly to "Embraced by the Cold Wind..."

Personally, I like the group "THE ALFEE."
The story is interesting, and Takamizawa-san, Sakazaki-san, and Sakurai-san all get along well, so it's fun to watch haha

Regardless of the music, I like it when groups get along well with each other because it's fun to see.

Also, as an aside, I also play the guitar as a hobby, and Mr. Sakazaki seems to have a deep understanding of music, or at least a deep knowledge of it.
This is purely my personal opinion, but I think he is one of the most talented and skilled guitarists out there.

....that was just a digression haha

Now, it's November and the cold wind is blowing.

It's pretty cold outside, but I want to relax somewhere other than home! I want to rest my wings!
