This is Sotetsu Fresa Inn Yokohama-Totsuka.
It's the rainy season, a time of humid rain before the dry heat sets in.
We are approaching the middle of June.
When I think that we've already reached the halfway point of this year, I really feel how time flies...lol
Well, when you think of the rainy season, many people probably think of rain, right?
If Fresher Panda, our mascot, gets wet in the rain, he might catch a cold!
So this time, we're giving away a wonderful umbrella!
I also drew a hydrangea as my illustration for June.
Hydrangea is a word that means "gathering"
The name hydrangea comes from the word "saai," which means "indigo blue," and is a reference to the way small indigo flowers bloom in clusters.
It's a very beautiful flower and one of my favorites.
I said that hydrangeas bloom in clusters, but do you know where hydrangea flowers are?
In fact, many people say that the part with the large petals is the flower.
That part is called "sepals"! They are not actually flowers!!
The sepals, which act as decorative large petals, are the flower-like part that you see at first glance.
So what exactly are hydrangea flowers?
In fact, it is a group of small petals located in the middle, behind the larger petals called sepals.
That is the part of the hydrangea flower, the true flower!
Either way, they are certainly blooming together lol
By the way, I learned this knowledge from a video by a YouTube channel I watch called "Natsume-sanchi" lol
Oh, and I forgot to mention something important!!
Hydrangea leaves are poisonous, so never eat them!!!
I learned this fact from a manga called "Sankarea" lol
You can surprisingly absorb knowledge from a variety of things.
There are also many places near Totsuka where you can see beautiful hydrangeas!
In Totsuka Ward, you can see beautiful hydrangeas in many parks, such as Tono Ward Hydrangea Park.
Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is filled with beautiful hydrangeas, creating a spectacular sight every year!
Hydrangeas are at their best from around mid-June.
If you are visiting Yokohama, it might be a good idea to also go sightseeing in the hydrangea area.
